Miss Precious

UPDATE SEPT 2007
It's with great sadness that we had to put Precious to sleep. As it turnes out she had a bone problem that caused her to keep breaking her bones. She had broken three in the last three weeks of her life & we just didn't want her to suffer anymore. As she was getting bigger it put more weight on her legs & she just wasn't able to stand up without breaking bones. She was a very special girl, very sweet & never caused a problem. We will miss her very much.

She was surrendered because the people that had her couldn't afford her vet bills. She is going to need extensive surgery to repair two broken back legs & a crushed pelvis. Both of her back legs have two breaks & will need orthopedic surgery. She will also need to be spayed at a later date. Her vet cost will be close to $4000.00. If you can help her we would appreciate it.

Update April 2007

It's been a while since we updated Precious. After her surgery she got pneumonia & spent four days in ICU, she got over that &we found out the upper bones in her front legs were broken as well as the back ones. She is doing well now & the other breaks seem to be healing & we are hoping she won't need surgery on them. She will be spayed the end of May & get the outside fixatures taken out of her legs & we will see how the other breaks are doing then.

We want to thank everyone that donated to her medical bills. without the donations we wouldn't have been able to help anymore dogs. We have had several cases with high medical bills in the last six months, totaling over $9000.00 & donations have been down for several years. We do have two people that donate on a monthly basis & we do appreciate that very much.

July 2007
Precious is doing better right now. She did have several more breaks since the last update. She has some kind of problem with her bones. The University of Pennsylvania is doing some testing on a skin sample we provided & a urine sample. We don't know what is going on as yet but should know something in a few weeks. She is trying to walk a little & is wanting to play. She is a sweet little girl & I hope we can find out what is wrong & fix it.
