AJ 6/26/05
This is A.J. He was
picked up as a stray by animal control. When we got him he was thin but
seemed ok. A day or two later he came down with kennel cough & became very
ill. He wouldn't eat, he had diarrhea & was nauseated. We kept him on
antibiotics but he just wasn't getting any better. By the second weekend we
had him I had to put him in the emergency clinic over night. He came home &
seemed much better but quickly went down hill again. We went back to the vet
& did a test for Giardia & it was positive, so we started treatment for
that. Well that made him nauseated too, all this was over a three week
period & he just wasn't eating much at all & is practically skin & bones.
He is doing a little better now & we are hoping he will be running & playing
soon. He was at the vets office every day for over two weeks plus the
emergency clinic which has been very expensive. We have over $700.00 in vet
bills at this time. If you would like to make a donation to help with A.J.'s
vet bill we will appreciate it very much.
update 7/17/05
Well as it turns out A.J.
has distemper. We have been doing everything possible for him. He has had to
stay in the hospital twice now but is home & doing better. We are hopeful
that he is going to make it. We don't know at this time how A.J. will be
when he does recover as distemper attacks the central nervous system. This
little guy is a fighter. He was skin over bones three days ago but has put
on a little weight so he isn't quite as bad looking. He barely ate anything
for almost a month. We are really in need of donations to help with his vet
bills which are over $1000.00. I hope on my next writing I will be able to
say he is doing much better .

A.J. is doing much better now. He has
gained some weight & it looks like he is going to make it.
He still has a ways to go but I do think he will recover. New pic's coming
soon.

It's been a long time since I updated AJ's
page so here it is. AJ is doing great, he overcame distemper & is doing
really well. He does have some neurological problems but other than that he
is a normal healthy little boy. He loves to play by himself with a pull toy.
He throw's it in the air & catches it & throw's it across the room, it's
hard for him to play with the other dogs because of the neurological
problems but he does bark at them & toss the pull toy as if to say come get
me if you can, then he runs if they do. He is just the cutest thing. He also
rears up on his back legs like a horse. He will be staying in rescue & we
will be his forever home. We love him even when he forgets & poops in the
kitchen, that is usually when it's raining. He is still a good boy & goes
out the doggie door most of the time. It was a long hard road for him & an
expensive one but well worth saving this boy.
