Memorials to our rescues

Velvet
This is a short memorial to Velvet. Velvet did not survive her heartworm treatment. Velvet had an embolism from the treatment and died due to the neglect of her previous owner.

She is a huge example of why you must administer heartworm preventative to all of your canine children. We have not lost a dog of this age in some time and it has been a terrible blow to all of us.

Bruno
"It was a heartbreaking sad day yesterday. Bruno was the sweeteset, gentlest, teddy bear of a guy and is already missed. We already feel a hole in our heart and our family. He greeted me each day when I came home with those big expressive eyes and loving demeanor. He loved spending the day outside and sunning himself on cool days and making frequent use of the doggie door to come in to lounge on the sofa. When he stopped eating a week ago we initially thought it was his teeth. However, a week later he stopped eating again and the tests indicated prostate cancer. The vet said it was only the second case of this cancer he had seen in a young neutered male dog. Such a short life for the best pet you could hope for!"

Lady Bug
Lady bug came with problems with her urinary tract and heartworms. At 10 years old, she was a very sweet dog that is remembered forever!

Alex
How do you say goodbye forever to your best friend?
On April 2, 2004, I adopted Alex and picked him up to take him to our home. On the way home, a love was born that lasted 3 years, 10 months and 17 days. Talk about total love. Alex was by far one of the best birthday presents
I have ever received. He overcame the abuse and neglect and blossomed. Where ever I was, was where he wanted to be--he slept every night with his head on my shoulder.

He became ill and had to go to the Rainbow Bridge on December 19, 2007. A piece of my heart went with him.
I miss his 'smile' at the gate, I miss his warm body next to mine at night, I miss the kisses he was so stingy with..
There will never be another Alex...there will never be another love like the one he gave to me == I can not wait to cross the Rainbow Bridge with "My Alex"

Jerry
Jerry came from the Ft Worth shelter with kennel cough that turned into neurological problems & had to be put to sleep. He was very sweet & only two yrs old.

Collin
Collin the one with the blue eye was rescued from Collin Co shelter with severe diarrhea that he probably had all his life. He was 8 mo old & had to be put to sleep because the diarrhea had been so bad for so long that it couldn't be controlled.

Phaedra
Phaedra had to be put to sleep because she had Lymphoma & was in a lot of distress so we felt it was better for her. We did help her to live another month longer than she would have without our help.

UPDATE SEPT 2007
It's with great sadness that we had to put Precious to sleep. As it turnes out she had a bone problem that caused her to keep breaking her bones. She had broken three in the last three weeks of her life & we just didn't want her to suffer anymore. As she was getting bigger it put more weight on her legs & she just wasn't able to stand up without breaking bones. She was a very special girl, very sweet & never caused a problem.

We will miss her very much.

Puffy_Velcro
